Various software companies distribute their software with hardware security, usually a dongle which must be mounted in order for the software to operate. I don't have experience with that, but I wonder, does it really works ? What does the hardware actually do ? I think that the only way to enfource security using this method, and prevent virtualizing of the hardware, the hardware should do something useful for the software, perhaps implement some algorithm, etc.
