There are many programs like StartAllBack and its predecessor StartIsBack which somehow modifies different aspects of Windows Shell (explorer.exe).

How are these hook points discovered in the first place and how the developers debug it in real-time to evaluate their work?

I am looking into writing a program similar to T-Clock for Windows 11.
