Is there some trick to getting debugging working on OS X with IDA? I've tried a number of different approaches, and a number of different apps, but no matter what I do, either I get SIGNINTs or SIGSEGVs or something similar. Depending on the app, either libsystem_secinit or libsystem_kernel seems to be the cause. I presume this is some OS X defensive measure against debugging running apps, but there must be some way around it?

  • I actually don't know the answer, but did you try it with turning SIP off? This prevents from changing some system files which may be needed to be changed by the debugging process. – pudi Nov 10 '18 at 12:12
